OMG, that full moon this weekend and Mercury coming out of Retrograde today, I feel completely drained. It totally made my kids nuts and there isn’t enough coffee, or wine, to help me get my to do list finished. That’s okay though, one thing at a time….
So since those two things are behind us now, and it’s the start of a new week, and we can start the month of February off balanced, I figured a 7 Day Chakra Balancing Challenge was a great idea. Who’s with me?
One of the benefits of being an energy healer, is that over the years I have developed the ability to perceive whether chakras are balanced, open and healthy. Unfortunately, one of the more common things I see during Reiki treatments are blocked chakras. Without knowing it, my clients come to me with ailments hoping that I can fix them, that’s because when we have an imbalance in our chakra system, it will manifest physically, emotionally, in your thoughts, or other areas of your life.
You have 7 main energy centers that run through your body. They begin in your sacrum and go all the way up your spine ending just outside the top of your head. Each chakra represents life issues, and corresponds to specific areas of your body. Each of the associated body parts hold information about you and your life. Pretty important, huh?
So, over the next week, I want to share a series of posts, where we will explore these energy centers and see what info is stored there waiting for you to get to know. One of the most powerful things you should know about life is that we always have a choice in how it’s going. If there is something we don’t like happening to us, we just have to change our thoughts and beliefs to start the shift of change. It absolutely is that simple.
Why Should I Balance My Chakras?
Because, homeostasis. That is when you keep your physical body healthy, functioning and in harmony. Another way to look at it would be the same way you balance the levels between acidity and alkalinity. When our bodies deviate away from homeostasis, we’re in trouble. When our chakras are out of balance it will start to have a profound impact on every part of your being; your psychical body, emotions, mental and spiritual health will all be prone to illness – or perhaps even accidents. You will feel that your life maybe be unhappy, unfulfilled, crazy or pointless. Which, is no bueno.
How Can I Balance My Chakras?
I’d recommend get a Reiki session, but since that isn’t something everyone may be able to do, there are a few ways to start balancing your chakras at home. I’ve come up with a 7 Day Chakra Balancing idea that can start you on a path to feel better. This will include simple food consumption, meditation techniques, affirmations and, always my favorite, crystals. Don’t worry if you don’t have all of these things on hand, you don’t need to. Just a small step in the right direction, with the positive intention of balancing is all it takes.
Root Chakra – Muladhara
We’re going to start with the root chakra, because it’s the first one in our bodies, it’s located at the base of the spine. The root chakra is your foundation. Basic issues that are tied to the Root Chakra are family, security, survival, safety, boundaries, basically how you manage life. So, it’s pretty importante as far as chakras go. This chakra is the main one in how you are gonna get through this psychical life, because it is tied to your upbringing and very early life. Some of the more common issues that I see when this chakra is out of balance is back pain, feet issues, IBS, constipation, minor aches and pains, fear, anxiety, insecurity. The color red is assocated with the root chakra, so that might make it easier to keep that in mind as you’re working with it.
A lot of people complain of relationship issues, in personal life and at work. If you find that you have issues with trust, this is a root chakra imbalance. Perhaps you never feel safe at home on some level, in your job, or feel no matter what, you’re always broke and can never get ahead. Yep, root chakra imbalance.
Good news, this can be cleared, plus you can change your way of thinking so that you will start to experience a more positive life. It begins at the unconscious and energetic level and that is where we are working in the chakras.
Clearning The Root Chakra
I like food. I particularity like to start my mornings with a smoothie, but that’s a personal preference. You don’t have to make a smoothie to get the foods you need to clear your chakra, but I think that it makes it more potent when we can combine all the foods at once with the intention behind the consumption is that we’re are doing so to clear our chakra. You can look up different foods to make, but pretty much it’s going to be anything red. For my smoothie I did strawberries, beets, spinach, ginger, and red apple. “But, Nikki, spinach and ginger aren’t red” Yes, I know, but they are from the earth, and root chakra is the one we need for grounding, it’s element is Earth, spinach and ginger come from the ground..and whatever, they taste delicious.
So, that was my recommendation on using food to help balance your root chakra. The other recommendation I have is using crystals. Crystals can be worn, carried, or just lay them on you for a bit while you do some meditation or visualization techniques. I like to do some self reiki while laying the crystals on the associated chakra. Today I worked with carnelian, bloodstone, red jasper, smokey quartz and garnet.
The last recommendation I have is to get outside for some Earthing/Grounding. Kick your shoes off and walk in the grass, the sand, the mud, whatever your little heart desires, but just feel Mother Nature between your toes. Use some affirmations while you’re out there, and tell yourself “I am safe. I am grounded. I am secure. I have all that I need.” And really focus on that feeling, for at least 17 seconds, and start to change your beliefs about the life you’re in charge of creating.
