Aloha, pals! I hope that you are all having a great week so far, and are enjoying our 7 Day Chakra Balancing Challenge. One of the best quotes I’ve heard, by James Redfield, that completely describes what it means to do, ANY, sort of healing work is, “Where attention goes, energy flows”. When we focus on feeling better, we are changing our thought patters on what we perceive to be. So if you’re truly focusing on opening up these chakras this week, and doing all the recommending things I show you, then you are opening them up. I have a few more modalities I will share with you today, other than my delicious smoothie.
What Is The Solar Plexus?
Did you know that this chakra is also known as the power chakra? It is located below the sternum, or breast bone, and our belly button. This chakra is the area where responsibility for others, caring for others, personal honor and courage emerge. The reason it is called the power chakra, is that the energy of this chakra is about your personal power. It also aids your self esteem, governs manifestation, creativity and feeling centered. The solar plexus chakra meanings relate to self confidence, self esteem, the ego, personal power, self worth, clarity and creativity. This chakra is responsible for the effective flow of energy not only to this region but throughout the whole body.
The Solar Plexus is associated with the color yellow. Yellow happens to be one of my all time favorite colors. It reminds me of my beloved Grandma, but it also is a color that just makes you happy by looking at it. So, I was really excited to work on this chakra today with that color in mind. This morning I made my smoothie with pineapple, banana, ginger, lemon and greek yogurt. It taste like lemonade ice cream, and I’m not mad about that at all.
Using Visual Aids
One of the best ways to clear or heal any type of energy is through meditation. I get a lot of clients tell me that they don’t know how to meditate, or that they try and it’s too hard. I can see how some might feel intimidated. The visual we all have of mediation is some monk on a hilltop sitting in absolute silence getting his zen on. But, my friends, meditation is not that hard, and that scenario should be a mastered outlook, not necessary for beginners. When I first started meditating I would do so in the shower. It felt great to just let the water run from the top of my head, down to my feet. I would visualize that I was being washed of all the negativity that day and it was washing down the drain. Today I picked some pretty yellow flowers for my home. You can pick a favorite yellow something, and when you look at it, just picture a big yellow ball of glowing light going into your solar plexus. Filling it with love and happiness. Say some, or all, of this affirmation while looking at your visual aid.
” love and accept myself.
I stand up for myself.
I am strong and courageous.
I am worthy of love, kindness, and respect.
I choose the best for myself.
I express myself in a powerful way.
I am proud of my achievements.
I honor my self.
I choose healthy relationships.
I am authentic.
I direct my own life.
I appreciate my strengths.
I feel my own power.
I am free to choose in any situation.
I seek opportunities for personal and spiritual growth.
I am at peace with myself.”
How About Those Crystals?
Of course I have to include my favorite, crystals, as part of chakra balancing. Today I picked out citrine, amber, golden topaz, lemon quartz and yellow jasper. If I had to pick just one crystals for you all to work with, it’s citrine. Citrine’s radiant yellow and gold energy activates, opens, and energizes the Solar Plexus, directing personal power, creativity, and intelligent decisiveness to enhance the physical body. Its foremost energy is to aid in manifestation. When one is totally attuned to the creative Life Force/Universe/God, simply clarifying, defining and projecting what is wanted will draw those purposes toward the person like a powerful magnet. It is very important to use this power of attraction only for the highest good. Otherwise what is drawn will become attachments that will eventually bring loss and sorrow to you.
What About Yoga?
I truly believe that yoga is the best way to move energy around when it comes to, not only our chakras, but our bodies in general. I had a few asanas in mind when it came to clearing our solar plexus, and so I went to the very beautiful, and extremely talented yogi teacher, Megan Bettis, to show us a pose we can incorporate into our practice to work on opening up that 3rd chakra. I decided on Paripurna Navasana, or Boat Pose, to work with. To get into this asana start seated in staff pose or Dandasana, then gently bend your knees while you have your hands on the side and pressed to the floor. Then you will lean back slightly and lift your feet, bringing your shins parallel to the floor and lift your arms up with palm facing each other. Take a few deep breaths if you can and gently straighten the knees, so that the legs form a 45 degree angle. Bring your hands to the front, facing each other. Try to pull the abdomen in to support the spine and create greater balance. Hold for 5 to 7 breaths while you focus your awareness on your solar plexus. Paripurna Navasana is a great core strengthening posture. Stimulating the digestive system, it balances the whole body and creates self confidence. Enhancing the sense of personal power, it awakens the go-getter attitude.
Okay, that’s it for solar plexus. I hope that you all have a wonderful rest of the day. See you all again tomorrow. Namaste, Lovies!
