Good morning, Lovies, and Aloha friday to all of you. We are here on day 5 of the 7 Day Chakra Balancing Challenge. So, we’re going to be working on the 5th chakra today, which is also called the Throat Chakra. This chakra is associated with the color sky blue and is located at the place in our neck where it forms a V at the bottom of our throat. Vishuddha is what connects our creativity, communication, self-expression, listening, smell, and taste. When we are balanced in this chakra, we are able to speak and listen to people and hear what they have to say. When we respond, we are constructive with our words and emotions. We also use a lot of empathy and tact when our throat is balanced. When we happen to be blocked, some people tend to overeating, drinking, gossiping, being critical and judgmental of others, anything to keep the throat busy and avoid communication. Self esteem is also hurt, so dominate feelings of anger, hate, jealousy bitterness or aggression might come out. It’s also said that through our throat chakra is were all energy comes into our bodies, and then we are then able to manifest our desires and joys. When this chakra is blocked, we are also cutting off our other chakras from receiving the energy they need to stay in harmony.
Which Crystals Should I Use?
Ah, yes, right to my favorite, crystals. Today I just let my hands do the picking. I knew I needed to get some for the throat and right away I picked up some chrysocolla, blue lace agate, sodalite and lapis lazuli. A few things about each: Chyrsocolla is first and foremost a stone of communication. Its very essence is devoted to expression, empowerment and teaching. The serenity of its turquoise colors discharges negative energies, calms, and allows truth and inner wisdom to surface and be heard. It’s very much a peaceful stone, an it emphasizes the power our words and actions have on those around us. It also encourages compassion and strengthening of character. Blue Lace Agate, is another stone of communication, helping those who have difficulty being heard by others, or who might need confidence and articulation to share their truths. Lapis Lazuli is one of the most sought after stones, ever. It has been used as far back as the Egyptians as a stone of royalty. Even the golden sarcophagus of King Tut was inlaid with Lapis, as were other burial ornaments of Egyptian kings and queens. It was used extensively in scarabs, pendants and other jewelry, and ground into powder for dyes, eye shadow and medicinal elixirs. People liked their Lapis. Probably because Lapis Lazuli is a very powerful crystal. It’s mostly used for activating the higher mind and enhancing intellectual ability. You will have a desire for the truth, knowledge and understanding of what is going on around you. And lastly, sodalite, which encourages being true to self and standing up for your beliefs. A stone of self-expression and confidence, Sodalite can aid in issues of self-worth, self-acceptance, and self-esteem. This is a great stone for anyone who needs to be in front of a large group of people.
For something a bit different today, I want to encourage an active meditation. As I mentioned above, the throat chakra is associated with the color sky blue. So, weather permitting, if it’s really lovely out, you should grab a blanket and head outdoors and look up at the bright blue sky. Really lean your head back, letting your throat open up as you just stair at the sky. Take in the sounds around you, the smells, the sensations on your body. Let go of whatever comes up in your mind, and just really stay in the moment of where you are. Since it was super nice out this morning, I headed to Kailua beach for about an hour for Aloha Friday. I like to grab a coffee, and take the kiddos for a walk along the water. It was really nice out today, and I even looked up for a bit and enjoyed the warm sunshine.
If this is not an option, another thing you can do is to light a light blue candle. As you light it, imagine that calming blue color, wrapping all around you, like a hug. Feel the color coming into your throat, and expanding, pulsating, and opening up any tension or tightness you might have. Let this happen for a few minuets if possible.
How About That Smoothie?
For the Throat Chakra I used blueberries, blackberries, kelp and wheat grass. I’ll be honest, this is NOT my favorite smoothie this week. It tasted very…earthy, which I just wasn’t feeling today. I still drank it, but if you skip today’s smoothie, I totally understand. Maybe just munch on some blueberries or blackberries, or throw them in a salad.
Maybe Oils Are Your Thing
I picked Lime today to work with. It has a clean, refreshing, citrus scent that will help encourage confidence. Lime will also tone up muscles, tissues and skin as well as the various systems that function in the body, including the respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive and excretory systems. This tonic effect helps retain youth for a long time and prevents the appearance of aging symptoms like hair loss, wrinkles, age spots, and muscle weakness. Apart from having the medicinal properties discussed above, it is an antidepressant and antiarthritic substance. It can reduce pain in the muscles and joints and is a very good antioxidant.
So there you go. Day 5 of the Chakra Balancing Challenge is done. I hope to see you all tomorrow when we balance our Anja,or 3rd Eye.
